Resource efficiency is focused on changing the inputs (ingredients, materials, process) to make new products that are healthier, use less energy, use less or more sustainable materials, and use less waste.  Inputs can be step-change shifts as substitutes or can be iterative advances in ingredients, materials or process that lead to lifecycle improvements, whether directly or indirecty.
